There are always options.
As I was driving home today I pondered about the results of choices. On the left of me were perched some of the most extraordinary homes I have ever seen and on the left, a valley full of average homes.
I considered these the results of two differing lifestyles. Both were brought about by choices and both had vastly contrasting results. What choices are made on both sides to allow one to live on a mountain and the other in the valley?
Consider the power of the analogy of the valley…A valley is generally the lowest point between mountains. From the valley the world seems barricaded and overpowering. One is required to look up in order to see the views. Many times barriers and blockades hinder us from seeing the beauty that is all around. If a city fills the valley, this is generally overpowered by thick dark haze which decreases visibility and causes one to wonder if there is anything beautiful left in this world.
From the mountains however, one can see all of the beauty. Ones vision is expanded to see across the horizon above and beyond the fogginess of the valley below. From this high vantage point, a person can see clearly the path’s that lead to continued success.
Isn’t it interesting, that the giants of this world choose to live in high places, places of vision, while those who choose to be average succumb to living in the depressed and low areas? I say choose and I challenge you to prove otherwise, because we choose the outcome of our lives. I choose whether I live in the valley or on the mountain. It is not chosen for me. I alone have the power to choose my life and its path.
Why is it then that those who live in the valley go around asking each other how they can live on the mountain? Do you think a valley dweller knows a damn thing about living on the mountain? Go to the mountain people if you want to live among them! If the choices you are making, which continue to create the results you are getting, are not working for you, it’s time to choose differently. If you want to live on the mountain, find out what choices those mountain people are making that you are not and start making those same choices.
Odds are they worked for all they earned. They persisted long enough to win. Are you willing to pay the same price? If not, enjoy the valley.
